Softball Drops Pair Of 3-2 Decisions At Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Cedarville scored a pair of 3-2 wins over Ohio Dominican's softball team on Friday to begin Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.

In game one, senior Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) led the way, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Sophomore Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) notched an RBI, while sophomore Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) and freshman Carson Hackerd (Frankfort, Indiana) also recorded hits for Ohio Dominican. In the circle, junior Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) allowed just two earned runs while striking out three.

The Panthers trailed 3-1 in the top of the seventh, but a lead-off double by Hackerd put a runner in scoring position early in the inning. After a groundout moved Hackerd to third, sophomore Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) notched a sacrifice fly to cut the Ohio Dominican deficit to 3-2. But the Panthers couldn't muster the tying run, falling 3-2.

Ohio Dominican also fell 3-2 in game two. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the sixth, Farmer blasted a two-run home run to center field, also scoring senior Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio) to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead. Cedarville scored one run apiece in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to seal the 3-2 win. Sutter went 2-for-3 in the contest, while Farmer notched two RBIs and now has 22 for the year. Barber struck out five in the circle.

ODU will face Malone next Thursday in its next games.
