COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's softball team will take an eight-game winning streak into one of the busiest weeks of the season for the squad, which is scheduled to host eight home games at Panther Field between Wednesday and Sunday.
The Panthers (18-15, 8-2 G-MAC) will carry their unbeaten streak into a doubleheader with No. 11 Indianapolis (28-8, 12-4 GLVC) on Wednesday before hosting Urbana in non-conference twin ball Thursday. On Saturday, ODU will resume Great Midwest Athletic Conference play with two games against Trevecca Nazarene Saturday before welcoming Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday for conference contests.
Unbeaten in the month of April, Ohio Dominican is one of the hottest teams in the G-MAC, having defeated its last eight opponents by a combined margin of 69-8. The pitching for the Panthers has been stellar, with junior Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) and sophomore Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) both dealing in the circle. The pair swept the weekly G-MAC awards, with Lamping taking home pitcher of the week and Barber notching player of the week in the conference. Lamping won all three of her starts last week, going the distance in each, and allowed just 12 hits and three walks in her 19.0 innings of work, good for a 1.11 ERA. Barber batted .500 in ODU's six games last week, going 10-for-20 at the dish with three homers and eight RBIs. She also scored five runs and drew a pair of walks, finishing with a .545 OBP and 1.000 slugging percentage.
Finding her stride in the last eight games has been senior Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio), who has batted .484 in her last eight contests with three triples, six RBIs and seven stolen bases. In her last eight, she boasts a slugging percentage of .710 and has also drawn three walks. Senior Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio), Barber and sophomore Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) are also all batting over .400 in their last eight games.
