INDIANAPOLIS — Ohio Dominican track & field senior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) was named Men's Track Athlete of the Week in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Monday, earning the first track & field conference athlete of the week award for the Panthers in their Division II era.
Carroll recorded the fastest time in the conference in the men's 800 at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday in Allendale, Michigan, crossing the finish line in 1:53.77 to establish a new school record in the event. Carroll was also part of the men's 4x400 meter relay team that set a new school record in the event at 3:17.40 to notch the top 4x400 time in the conference this season. He holds the second-fastest time in the conference in the 400 at 49.09, and his run in the 800 of 1:53.77 is just .40 away from the NCAA Division II provisional mark in the event.
Carroll has had an outstanding career at Ohio Dominican and holds 11 indoor and outdoor school records for the Panthers, setting three school records during the 2017-18 indoor season. He holds the indoor school records in the men's 300, 400, 500, 600, 800, 1,000 and mile runs as well as being a member of the indoor school record DMR and 4x400 teams.
