HILLSDALE, Mich. — Ohio Dominican track & field's Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) and Avery Sumpter (Lima, Ohio) qualified for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's 200 and 60 meter dash finals to lead the Panthers on day one competition of the Great Midwest Indoor Championships at the Margot V. Biermann Center at Hillsdale College Friday.
Bass finished with the fifth-fastest men's 200 qualifying mark with a time of 22.67, the second-fastest time in the event this season for ODU. He is one of eight qualifiers for the men's 200 finals, which will run tomorrow at approximately 2:30 p.m. Bass also finished fifth out of 23 competitors in the men's long jump finals with a distance of 6.62 meters.
Sumpter qualified for the men's 60 meter dash finals with a sprint of 7.06 to mark the third-fastest 60 meter dash time of the season for the Panthers. He will compete for a conference title in the event at approximately 1:40 p.m. tomorrow.
Bryanna Barber (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) took 12th place out of 32 in the women's 200 with a run of 26.80, the fastest women's 200 time of the year for Ohio Dominican.
Running the fastest women's 400 time of the indoor season for the Panthers was Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio), who crossed the finish line 1:02.98 to take 12th place.
Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) led the men's throwers in the weight throw with a distance of 14.30 meters.
Ohio Dominican's men's team currently sits in sixth place out of nine teams through day one with seven points.
