COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team won its third consecutive game by a score 3-0, defeating Alderson Broaddus.
The Panthers controlled much of the possession as they did not allow the Battlers to record a single shot attempt. This was the first time since the 2005 season against Houghton that ODU did not allow a shot in a game. For the game, the Panthers outshot Alderson-Broaddus 30-0.
The Panthers and Battlers were tied for most of the first half before ODU added two goals in the last three minutes of the first session. Junior Amanda Fowler (Mansfield, OH) scored the first goal for the Panthers as she scored off a rebounded shot. With under five second remaining in the opening half, sophomore Amanda Fodor (Hilliard, OH) added another goal off a rebounded shot.
In the second half, the Black and Gold added another goal in the 57th minute when sophomore Kethryn Mattingly (Beavercreek, OH) played in a ball off a free kick from 50 yards out. Freshman Allison Pavlik (Cortland, OH) headed in the Mattingly play from 10 yards out over the goalkeeper's head.
All three Panther goalies saw action in the game, as they combined to record a team shutout. Freshman Kelsey Harris (Mason, OH) started, and junior Felicia Cuthbert (Marysville, OH) and senior Laura Clark (Lapeer, MI) made their first appearances of the season.
Both teams logged eight fouls, while the Panthers recorded eight corner kicks to the Battlers zero.
The Panthers will be back in action on Sunday, when they open up their conference schedule. ODU will be on the road at Ashland for a 1:00 p.m. match.
