Women's Soccer Ranked Sixth in Midwest Region

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Dominican women's soccer team is currently ranked inside the top six in the NSCAA Midwest Regional Poll.

The Panthers sit in the sixth position in the Midwest Region. Ten teams make the regional rankings each week, with the top six at the end of the season advancing to the NCAA Regional tournament. The third week of the rankings this season is the first time in school history which the Panthers have been ranked inside the top six.

Also this week, ODU was named to the NSCAA National Top 25 Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 23.

The Panthers, co-GLIAC champions for the regular season, took the top spot in the GLIAC tournament, and defeated Northern Michigan 3-1 on Tuesday in the quarterfinals. ODU has tied many school records this season including wins and winning percentage with a 14-3-1 record. The Black and Gold also set school marks for most consecutive wins and longest unbeaten streak, with the current nine match winning streak.

The GLIAC holds four of the top six positions in the current regional rankings, including the other co-GLIAC champion Grand Valley State, Michigan Tech, and Saginaw Valley State.

This weekend the Panthers will host the GLIAC semi-finals and championship match. ODU will look to continue their postseason success as they host Ashland for the second semi-final match at 7 p.m. on Friday. In the first semi-final match at 4 p.m. Michigan Tech will take on Grand Valley State.
