COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican women's soccer sophomore defender Cheyenne Story (Canfield, Ohio) was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference women's soccer defensive player of the week, the league announced Tuesday.
Story scored her first career goal in ODU's 4-2 win at Northwood on Sunday, also notching her first career assist in the win. With 24 starts in her career, Story has helped anchor a defensive unit that is yet to a surrender a goal in Great Midwest play and boasts a goals allowed average of 0.33 in home matches this season. Ohio Dominican's defense has notched two shutouts on the year and holds a goals allowed average of 1.00.
ODU (3-2, 1-0 G-MAC) won two of its three matches for the week, including a 1-0, shutout win over Findlay to begin Great Midwest play. The Panthers also defeated Northwood in a road, non-conference battle on Sunday afternoon. ODU exploded for three first half goals in the 4-2 win, which marked the first time since a September 20, 2015 win over the Timberwolves that the Panthers scored three goals in a half away from Panther Stadium.
