Women’s Soccer Rolls To 5-0 Win At Davis & Elkins

ELKINS, W.Va. — Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team tied a season-high for goals scored en route to a 5-0 win over Davis & Elkins in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (8-3, 6-1 G-MAC) have won six of their last seven and have already exceeded their win total from a 2016 season in which they finished fourth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

ODU held a commanding 24-6 advantage in shots, including a 14-6 edge in shots on goal.

Senior Lauren Bates (Hilliard, Ohio) recorded her first career hat trick and the 16th in program history in the win. Senior Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ohio) notched the 15th all-time hat trick for ODUWS in a 3-1 win over Cedarville on September 21.

Pavlik scored her ninth goal of the season, tying her season-high for goals in a year. Sophomore Becca Gordon (Johnstown, Ohio) notched her second goal of the season.

ODU recorded three assists as a team, with junior Susan D'Isidoro (Twinsburg, Ohio), sophomore Cheyenne Story (Canfield, Ohio) and Pavlik all with one assist apiece.

The scoring began for ODU in the 18th minute, when Gordon found the back of the net on an assist from D'Isidoro, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

The lead was extended to 2-0 for ODU in the 28th minute when Bates found the back of the net for the first time on the day. With possession near the top of the box, Bates pivoted to her right and rocketed a shot to the top left corner of the net, extending the Panther lead to 2-0.

Bates found the back of the net for the second time in the half in the 43rd minute after her initial shot hit the post and she collected the rebound to find the goal, extending ODU's advantage to 3-0 going into halftime.

Pavlik scored her 28th career goal in the 61st minute to increase Ohio Dominican's lead to 4-0, and Bates finished the hat trick in the 69th minute with an assist coming from Story, bringing the score to 5-0.

ODU's defense held strong to complete the 5-0 shutout, the fourth of the year for the Panthers.

Ohio Dominican returns home next week for Great Midwest matches with Malone and Walsh.
