Bates, Pavlik And Wierzbicki Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Accolades For Women’s Soccer

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican women's soccer's Lauren Bates (Hilliard, Ohio), Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ohio) and Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) have earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team honors, CoSIDA announced Thursday.

The three first team All-District selections are the most in Ohio Dominican women's soccer history and matches a District 4 high in first team selections for an institution. Each student-athlete will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, in which first, second and third team selections will be announced in December.

Wierzbicki was one of just two goalkeepers selected as first team All-District and boasts a 3.97 grade point average in biology (pre-med). Wierzbicki was named first team All-Great Midwest on November 1 and has anchored a Panther defense that has allowed just 0.89 goals per match this season.

Pavlik was named first team All-District by CoSIDA for the second-consecutive season and maintains a 3.98 GPA in international business & public relations. Pavlik has scored nine goals in 2017 and currently sits third in goals scored all-time for ODUWS with 28 for her career. The senior forward was named second team All-Great Midwest earlier this month.

Bates has scored a team-high 15 goals this season for the Panthers, has achieved a 3.98 grade point average and is currently studying for her master's degree in physician assistant studies. Bates earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Ohio Dominican in the spring and has made significant contributions to the women's soccer program this season, earning first team All-Great Midwest accolades last week.

ODUWS is in the midst of a landmark season, tying a program-high for wins in a year with 15 and earned its second bid to the NCAA Championship this week. The Panthers face McKendree on Friday at 2 p.m. in an NCAA Championship first round match and can advance to the second round of the tournament for the first time in program history with a victory.
