Buck's Hat Trick Leads Ohio Dominican Over Northwood

Columbus, Ohio – Sophomore Samantha Buck's (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) hat trick led Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team to a 5-1 win in a non-conference matchup Sunday against Northwood.

With the Panther win, each team goes to 1-1 overall on the year.

Freshman Mari Silvestri (Solon, Ohio) got the scoring started for the Panthers in the opening 45 as a Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) pass from goal sailed over the defense to find the foot of Silvestri who put the opening score in for the Panthers in the 16th minute. Neither team scored the rest of the half as the Panthers took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Panthers outshot the Timberwolves 12-2 with seven on goal as they maintained possession most of the half.

Buck doubled the Panther lead to 2-0 on a set piece where Allie Atkinson (Ontario, Ohio) took the corner and Katlyn Jamiel (Wilmington, Ohio) kneed the ball to Buck to knock in the back of the net in the 53rd minute..

In the 61st minute, the Timberwolves cut the lead in half at 2-1 eight minutes later as Jillian Hon found the back of the net for Northwood.

The Panther would answer quick as two minutes later, Buck notched her second goal of the afternoon off an assist from Silvestri to make the score 3-1. Bucks third goal came just four minutes later on an assist from Susan D'Isidoro (Twinsburg, Ohio).

Freshman Hannah Knobloch (Hilliard, Ohio) got in on the scoring action for the Panthers as she also notched her first career goal in the 85th minute on an assist from Shelby Shotton (Marion, Ill.)

The Panthers outshot the Timberwolves 22-to-4 in the contest while also having 11 corner kicks to Northwood's zero.

Ohio Dominican turns their attention to Malone as they matchup with the Pioneers Thursday night at 7:30 pm at Panther Stadium.
