Volleyball Suffers Sweep At Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. – Freshman Alyssa Hoyng (Celina, Ohio) had a season-best 11 kills while hitting .304, but Ohio Dominican's volleyball team fell 3-0 (15-25, 12-25, 17-25) at Hillsdale on Saturday afternoon.

It was Hoyng's first match in double figures in kills and the fourth straight match she's hit better than .300.

Junior Patricia Barreto (Findlay, Ohio) added six kills, freshman Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.) had 12 assists and junior Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) notched nine digs.

The Panthers led 6-3 in the first set and it was tied at 12 on Hoyng's kill before HC pulled away. Down 18-15, Hillsdale scored the final seven points of the set to claim the lead.

The Chargers (8-3, 1-2 G-MAC) then led wire-to-wire in the second set and used a trio of 3-0 runs to pull away in the third.

ODU (1-10, 0-3 G-MAC) returns home to play host to Ursuline at 7 p.m. Friday.
