COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team will wrap up the 2017 season as the Panthers travel to Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan for G-MAC matches this weekend.
ODU takes on Trevecca at 3 p.m. (CST) on Friday before playing at Kentucky Wesleyan at 1 p.m. (CST) on Saturday.
The Panthers hosted both schools at the end of September, falling in four sets to KWC and defeating TNU in four frames. Against Kentucky Wesleyan, the Panthers hit .203 and had four players finish in double figures in kills. The Panthers then hit .210 the following day in the victory against Trevecca.
ODU went 1-2 in its three matches last week, with all of the contests going five sets. ODU's seen its offensive numbers increase as the season has progressed, as a young Panthers roster hit just .099 in the month of September, a number that improved to .160 in October and is at .226 early in November. ODU is also averaging over two more kills per set (from 10.4 to 13.0) over the two month stretch.
Freshman setter Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.) ranks fifth in the G-MAC with 8.0 assists per set and junior Jordan Jaeckin (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) is third with 0.4 aces per set. Junior Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) sits seventh in the league with 4.2 digs per set.
Freshman Alyssa Hoyng (Celina, Ohio) leads the team with 238 kills and is hitting .273 on the season. She's also tops on the teams with 64 blocks. Classmate Alexis Young (Gahanna, Ohio) is second on the team with 192 kills.
