Volleyball Falls In Road Match At Trevecca

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback (17-25, 22-25, 23-25) to host Trevecca Nazarene in G-MAC play Friday.

Freshman Alyssa Hoyng (Celina, Ohio) continued her strong play as she led all players with 12 kills and also hit .296. Junior Rebecca Skidmore (Westerville, Ohio) had eight kills and hit .316 and classmate Patricia Barreto (Findlay, Ohio) hit .462 with seven kills.

Freshman Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.) tallied 26 assists and freshman Alexis Young (Gahanna, Ohio) led the Panthers with 13 digs.

After dropping the first set, ODU led 12-8 in the second frame, but Trevecca scored eight straight points to take a four point lead. The Panthers cut it to two at 23-21 and 24-22 on kills from Skidmore, but the Trojans scored the final point to take the set.

ODU again led early in the third frame, going in front 9-6, but this time it was a 7-1 TNU run to grab the lead. Down 24-18, the Panthers scored five straight points, bookended by Hoyng kills, before a TNU kill ended the match.

Ohio Dominican (5-25, 3-13 G-MAC) concludes the season at 1 p.m. (CT) Saturday at Kentucky Wesleyan.
