Volleyball Drops Road Contest At Ohio Valley

VIENNA, W. Va. – Ohio Dominican's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback at Ohio Valley (16-25, 21-25, 21-25) in G-MAC action on Saturday.

Sophomore Alexis Young (Gahanna, Ohio) hit .615 and had eight kills without an error in 13 swings and senior Rebecca Skidmore (Westerville, Ohio) led ODU with nine kills. Freshman Amanda Remmetter (Springfield, Ohio) tallied eight kills as well, but Ohio Valley hit .312 in the match, registering 49 kills.

Sophomore Ashton Barr (New Castle, Ind.) added 13 assists, while Remmetter and senior Anna Ficker (Cincinnati, Ohio) both had nine digs.

The Panthers had an opportunity to take the second set as a kill by Skidmore drew ODU even at 18. Another Skidmore kill kept the Panthers within 21-20, but Ohio Valley scored four of the final five points to take the set.

ODU made a late charge in the third set, tallying three straight points to close within 24-21 before falling.

The Panthers conclude their road swing with a 2 p.m. match at Davis & Elkins on Sunday.
